七夕 Star Festival

July 7th is a celebration day of Tanabata (Star Festival) in Japan.
J's pre-school (Japanese) had an early celebration at The Huntington, San Marino.
The children were recommended to be in kimonos, called Yukata or Jinbei.

Decorated Bamboo

There were Origami booths for the Bamboo decorations.
J was very shy and didn't want to make any paper decorations.
He joined the story time(the story of Tanabata) and singing time though.
No I don't want to go.  I want to sit here.

A DISTANCE from the singing children!  He didn't want to be in the chorus.
After the event, the branches of decorated bamboo were cut off for the children and the families to take home.
He refused to take one at first, but ended up with two.  He was very excited.

We walked to the Chinese Garden to see ducks and fish, and then A waked up from his nap.
There was only one duck.

Of course, we stopped at the Children's Garden for more fun.
